Wednesday Spotlight with Dean Johanesen 9/7, Dustin Edge w/ Lyndsay Wojcik 9/9, Charlie Morris 9/10

Lots going on this week folks beginning tonight with our weekly "Living Room Live" Jam. Every Tuesday and Thursday you can catch some of the area's finest singer songwriters and musicians pouring it out for us all. Sign-up starts when doors open at 6 PM and music starts at 8 PM. This is a free event held every week and you won't believe the talent that comes walking through the door.

This Wednesday we welcome back good friend, singer songwriter and musician, Dean Johanesen for our new Wednesday early evening Spotlight. Each week The Hideaway Cafe will host one of our many talented artists for a mid week concert. We will be opening at 5PM and running a Happy Hour from 5 to 7 PM with $3 domestic bottles, $3 house red and white and $1 pulled pork siders - then a show from 7 to 8 PM. We hope you'll come on down after work, grab a bite and take in another great night of original music.

In concert this Friday: Dustin Edge with Lyndsay Wojcik. "Dustin Edge has taken inspiration from disparate locales that range from Kentucky to New York to Prague to create his latest EP, Calm. Calm was recorded in Brooklyn and takes a sharp contrast to his previous works. The sound is often hushed, smooth, and represents the kind of simple happiness that many seek to find amidst the rushed energy of New York. The five songs on Calm showcase a Nick Drake/Bert Jansch-inspired acoustic folk style that carries musical poise and vocal tranquility similar to Joshua Radin or Philip Selway. Edge describes the EP as being 'laden with ruminations on the search for contentment among tumultuous times. New York City can be a beast,' he says, but the songs come across with utter clarity and composure." — Amy Sciarretto

Opening the show we welcome for the first time, Lyndsay Wojcik. Combining a musical mixture of roots, folk, and soul, Lyndsay Wojcik brings a refreshing twist to the often mundane and repetitive styles of the present music industry. Using her savvy lyrical sense, she paints her interpretation of life onto her audience as if they were the wet canvas on which she worked.

She has won several competitions such as the Gibson Songwriters contest in Nashville, placed second in the NSAI songwriter competition in Charlotte, placed second in a competition in Knoxville, and has appeared on the CMT television show "The Big Break" with Sara Evans. - Alli Marshall

Closing out the weekend we welcome local singer and guitar man, Charlie Morris. Here's what some folks had to say:

"Mr. Morris has the sound that I love. He knows how to pick a guitar and make it sing. There is that down-home blues/rock and roll quality about his songs that makes my feet begin tapping as soon as he hits the first note."

"In concert, he and the band have that funky tightness that might remind you of bands like Little Feat. " - Bonds Big Leather Couch

"Superb playing, dynamics and swing!"
- Serge Warin, Radio Canal Bleu, Objat, France

"The Charlie Morris Band is fantastic!"
- Wayne Winkler, WETS, Johnson City TN

"This is a lot of fun!"
- Derral, KCHO, Reading CA

Charlie's popped in for a few Living Room live jams and all is true. He's a fine player with a great voice. We're looking forward to having him and his band for the release of his latest work... Forest. $5 in advance or at the door.

Special thanks to last week's performers, Gary Burke & Katie Carpenter of Jezzebelle, AJ Swearingen and Jayne Kelli.....and from Saturday's Jam - Gale Trippsmith, Vinny Sepleski, Adam Shoemaker, Matt Haley, John Q, Rick Schettino, Deserie Valloreo, Janie Richards, Jayne Kelli, Tim Poole, Geni Poole, JT, Shannon VanAlsburg, David Downing and Katelynn Rehnke for joining in.
