We invite all singer/songwriters to join us for this Thursday's open mic night, a.k.a. Living Room Live. Named Creative Loafing's Best of the Bay 2014 for "Best Open Mic Night", the Hideaway Cafe has opened up its doors and its stage for the past 7 years to countless rising talents as well as seasoned veterans who have made a career of music.

April 26, 2017 - Betty Fox Band

Our weekly Blues Jam is hosted by 2 Bay Area gems - every 1st and 3rd Wednesday, you can find TC Carr sharing the stage with his Bolts of Blue Band and every 2nd and 4th, the Betty Fox Band.  TC Carr & Bolts of Blue recently advanced to the semifinals for Best Self Produced CD and Best Band at the International Blues Challenge 2016.  And the Betty Fox Band - 2015 IBC finalists and 3 time winners of Best of the Bay for Best Local Blues Act - brings the blues and invites other well revered local players up to join in on the jam.

Robin Taylor Zander Jr (Dharma)

Robin’s father is, in fact, Robin Zander, lead vocalist of the band Cheap Trick. Although it was not Robin’s father that pushed him towards the music scene, rather an inner force that compelled him to make music. “I would have picked it up no matter what, even if I didn't have a parent who did music. I feel like it was what I was destined to do,” says Robin. He has been playing music his whole life and now he is taking big steps towards his music career. He says he has his father to thank for teaching him the ways of rock-n-roll world.

Amber Lynn

Amber Lynn is a classically trained singer and Nashville recording artist. Her latest album SEVEN, a blend of blues and rock, will be released in late May 2014. The album is based on the seven deadly sins. At age 27 (born October 29, 1986), she has already begun to dedicate her life to the study and performance of music, dance, and theater. She is a writer of songs, poems, and short stories and has a deep interest in culture, art, traveling, and philosophy. Amber Lynn is an independent artist. She launched her label Jerzey Girl Music in December of 2010.

Billy Prine

Billy Prine, younger brother of singer-songwriter legend John Prine and a tremendous talent in his own right, started playing in garage bands when he was 13 years old. Born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, he continued playing music all through high school and he began performing locally. According to Billy he, "really started taking it seriously" when he moved to California in 1979 and started a band called Whiplash and the Lawsuits.

After a lifetime of crafting finely-wrought, heart-touching songs, singer-songwriter Pierce Pettis feels that he’s finally found his comfort zone. “The biggest change,” he says of this point in his career “has been getting over myself and realizing this is a job and a craft. And the purpose is not fame and fortune (whatever that is) but simply doing good work.”
