Sweet Life Blues

Showdown Week:
Week 3
Story:
This is the only new song I have an mp3 of right now. Can't figure out how to convert the WMA files that my little recorder makes. Anyway, I like this song a lot. I stayed up really late one night, drank a whole bottle of wine, and wrote it. Originally it was called Sweet Wine Blues, but I played it out and someone thought I was saying 'Life' instead of 'Wine'. I liked that better, so I changed the name.

I’m old enough to know better
But I’m still too young to care
About things like dying
And what life is like over there

And though life has set me down a rough road
I still stop and smell the roses
Though there blooms fall one by one
Just like my years do suppose

CHORUS
But pour me more sweet life
Give me love to break my heart
Then push me to a limit
I thought I wasn’t strong enough to start

I’m not that sweet thing
The world set me out to be
Cause I’ve got a little of that devil
Hiding somewhere deep inside of me

But there’s an angle on my shoulder
Who’s been fighting for control
But I don’t talk too much about it
Because vanity is a sin you know
CHORUS

I’m kind of sharp around the edges
But I can polish to a shine
And still appreciate the little things
That I stumble around and find

There’s not much call for aging dreamers
But my heart still beats in time
I know beauty when I see it
And I still see it all the time
CHORUS
